About
Tide Runners is a tropical dice-racing board game played on a hand-painted island archipelago. You will compete against your navy-sailed AI agent to navigate two boats across 40 stepping stones from the Harbor to the Lighthouse.
How to play
- Each turn, roll two six-sided dice.
- Use each die to move one boat, or split them between both boats in any order.
- A die showing a 5 or 6 is required to move a boat out of the Harbor onto stone 1.
- Landing directly on an opponent's boat bumps it back to the Harbor, unless it is in a Safe Cove or part of a Blockade.
- Landing within 1 stone of a lone opponent boat (outside a Safe Cove) fires a Broadside that knocks it back 4 stones.
- Stacking both of your own boats on the same stone forms a Blockade that opponent boats cannot land on or pass through.
- Whirlpool stones send you back 4 stones, Trade Wind stones boost you forward 3, and Reef stones skip your next turn; the weather shifts their positions each round.
- Rolling a double grants an extra turn, but rolling three doubles in a row forfeits the third turn.
- Overshooting the Lighthouse (stone 40) bounces your boat back from stone 40 by the excess roll.
- The first player to get both boats to the Lighthouse wins the round, and best two out of three rounds wins the match.
- Players alternate turns, with the round loser taking the first turn in subsequent rounds.
